ClearLabel ("the App") helps you understand product labels: you scan a barcode or photograph a label, and the App explains the ingredients in plain words. This policy explains what data the App handles, why, and what choices you have. The App has no user accounts.

1. What stays on your device

Your photos. Photos of labels are read on your device (text recognition runs locally). The photo itself is not uploaded; it is kept in the App's History on your phone until you delete it.
Saved products and notes. Products you save and notes you write (text and photos) are stored only on your device. If you delete the App, they are deleted.
Your food preferences (for example allergies, vegan, halal, kosher) are stored on your device. See section 3 for when they are sent with a request.

2. Information the App collects and sends

Automatically

A random identifier generated by the App on your device (not linked to your name or email), the App version, your operating system and its version, device model, and language.
Your approximate location, derived from your IP address when the App connects to our servers and to services we use.
How you use the App (for example screens opened, scans made, paywall views) and technical diagnostics (crashes, start-up and network performance).
Your push notification token, if you allow notifications.
Purchase and subscription status, handled by Apple or Google and by RevenueCat.
If you allow it, your device's advertising identifier, used for advertising (see section 5).

When you scan

For a barcode: the barcode number, sent to Open Food Facts and Open Beauty Facts (public product databases) to look the product up. These services also see your IP address.
For a label photo or a looked-up product: the recognized text of the ingredient list (not the photo), your language, and, if you chose any, your food preferences. This is sent to our server so it can generate the explanation.

3. Food preferences

You can optionally choose allergies, diets and ingredients to avoid. Some choices (for example halal, kosher or vegan) can reveal religious or philosophical beliefs. They are used only to tailor the explanation of a label to you: they are sent with the request that explains that label, together with the anonymous identifier above. We do not use them for advertising and do not sell them. You can change or clear them in Profile at any time.

4. How we use information

To explain labels and show results to you.
To run the App: subscriptions, usage limits, notifications, preventing fraud and abuse, keeping the service secure.
To understand how the App is used, find and fix crashes, and improve performance.
To show advertising and to measure how our own advertising performs.

5. Advertising and tracking

The free version shows ads from Google AdMob. Ads can be personalised using your device's advertising identifier. On iOS we ask your permission (App Tracking Transparency) before using it for tracking; if you decline, ads are not personalised with that identifier. In the European Economic Area, the UK and some US states we show a consent form, and you can reopen it in Profile when it applies to you. You can also limit ad personalisation in your device settings (iOS: Settings → Privacy & Security → Tracking; Android: Settings → Google → Ads). Premium subscribers see no ads.

We do not sell your personal information.

6. Service providers and third parties

We use the following providers, which receive the data described above only for the stated purposes:

OpenAI processes the recognized label text (and, if chosen, your food preferences) to generate the explanation, on our behalf.
Google (Firebase Analytics, Performance Monitoring, Cloud Messaging, anonymous authentication, and AdMob) for analytics, diagnostics, notifications and advertising.
Yandex AppMetrica for usage analytics.
RevenueCat to manage purchases and subscriptions; Apple and Google Play to process payments.
Open Food Facts / Open Beauty Facts for product data (see section 2).
Our hosting and server providers, which store the data described in section 7.

7. How long we keep data and how to delete it

Our server stores recognized label text, usage events, diagnostics and device records together with the anonymous identifier, for statistics, support and improving the service. Deleting the App removes everything stored on your device, but not the records on our server; reinstalling creates a new identifier.

To ask us to delete the server records linked to your device, or to ask what we hold, write to support@dostich.com and tell us your device model and roughly when you installed the App. We will help you find the record and delete it. Data held by Google, Yandex, RevenueCat, Apple and OpenAI is governed by their own policies.

8. Your rights

Depending on where you live (for example the EEA, the UK, California) you may have the right to access, correct or delete your data, to object to or restrict processing, to withdraw consent, and to complain to a data protection authority. Contact us at the address below.

9. Security

Data is sent over encrypted connections (HTTPS). No method of storage or transmission is completely secure.

10. Children

The App is not directed to children under 13 (16 where local law requires), and we do not knowingly collect personal data from them.

11. Medical disclaimer

The App gives general information based on public data and automated tools; it is not medical, dietary or allergy advice. Always check the product's own packaging. See the Terms of Use.

12. Changes

We may update this policy. The date at the top shows the latest version; material changes will be announced in the App or on this page.
